TINA Team organized a workshop from march 22th to 25th. It was about new methods in mapping sciences. An international panel of speakers was there to give profound insight on state of the research concerning how to visualize the multi-dimensional topology of science.
Mining the digital Traces of science
Présentation de Jean-Philippe Cointet sur les phylogénies
Présentaion lors du Data challenge de visualisations des tubes de concepts.
In parallel of the conferences, there was also a data challenge in which we participated.
The data set is a an extract from the Thomson ISI Web Of Science composed of 200k notices about embryology. The data challenge was to pre-process (eg convert the ISI raw format to the more common ISI web export) and to process (eg apply some statistical methodology and visualization).
We submit an interactive visualization of a new multi-scale representation of phylogenic structures. This work involved the whole CorText platform : The methodologies, the computation and publishing infrastructure, the scientific knowledges and the data visualization result.
The jury was then composed of some the speakers but also of embryology experts and chose our submission as the best interactive dataviz submission.
